Most air-conditioning systems these days are of inverter type. Inverter air conditioners use a variable frequency drive to control the speed of the motor thus in turn the compressor. When the cooling demand is met the compressor will slow down, in return reducing running costs.
Inverter air-conditioners reach the desired room temperature faster, and then constantly adjust to maintain perfect comfort. Inverter air conditioners are more economical to operate and quieter to run than fixed speed units but need to be correctly sized.

The key difference between an inverter and a noninverter air conditioner is that an inverter air conditioner can regulate the speed of its compressor motor. … In comparison, noninverter motors only run at full speed or stop. The motor runs at full speed but turns off once room temperature drops to the desired level.

The cooling and heating capacity of an air conditioner is measured in kilowatts (kW).

For more complex installations a heat load calculation should be performed. A heat load calculation comprises many factors such as the size of the area, size of windows, roof type, building material, whether there is insulation, external shading or internal shading, etc. Incorrect sizing will mean inadequate cooling/heating. An air-conditioner is designed to work within a certain space/enclosure. Always remember to size up your air-conditioner for open plan areas.

Unlike R22R410a does not contribute to the depletion of the ozone layer. R410a is better at absorbing and releasing heat than R22, making it more energy-efficient to use. Since R410a operates at higher pressures it requires the use of tougher and more durable air conditioner parts

Heat pumps transfer heat by circulating a substance called a refrigerant through a cycle of evaporation and condensation. A compressor pumps the refrigerant between two heat exchanger coils. In one coil, the refrigerant is evaporated at low pressure and absorbs heat from its surroundings

heat pump that has a CoP of three can create three kW of heat from every one kW of electricity. The average home requires around 12,000-kilowatt-hours (KwH) of heat per year. Therefore, in order to achieve this, a heat pump with a CoP of three would use 4,000 kW of electricity annually.

heat pump works like an inverse air conditioner. It takes heat particles from the atmosphere, compresses them, pumps them into your geyser, and circulates the water around. Heat pumps are efficient in how they use electricity and a 1kw input of electricity generally translates to a 4 kW output of electricity. 

This refers to the energy efficiency rating and measures the air-conditioner’s energy consumption and efficiency. A higher EER rating on your air conditioning system means the system is more energy-efficient. You can compare the ratings from each manufacturer.

This simply means that the system is able to both cool and heat.

Ensure the air inlet and outlet of the outdoor unit are kept clear of obstructions.

Ensure that the correct size is installed for the application.

Ensure that you carry out the bi-annual or annual service.

If your system fails, contact the manufacturer without delay.
